For more than 40 years, it has had an almost mythical appeal for some of the world’s greatest sailors. Undoubtedly this race\u00a0has been the field where sailing legends have faced off.<\/p>

This edition of The Ocean Race, will start from the Spanish port of Alicante, on January 15, 2023 and will visit nine different international cities. This year it concludes for the first, historic time at Genova, in the summer of 2023.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

LEG OF OCEAN RACE<\/h5>

The first leg is a 1,900-mile “sprint” from Alicante to Cape Verde<\/strong>.<\/p>

The second leg will begin on January 25. It will see the fleets cross the equator heading south to Cape Town<\/strong>. This will be the 12th time that regatta will stop in the city at the southern tip of Africa.<\/p>

Next is a true record-breaking leg-the longest in the event’s 50-year history-a marathon of 12,750 miles and lasting about a month to reach Itaja\u00ed, Brazil.<\/strong><\/p>

In the best tradition of The Ocean Race, this leg takes IMOCA and VO65 sailors up to the infamous Roaring Forty and Screaming Fifty, to the low latitudes of the Southern Ocean. Leaving Antarctica to the right, the fleet will have to pass all three major southern capes-Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin and Cape Horn<\/strong>-non-stop. This for the first time in history.<\/p>

The stopover in Itaja\u00ed, Brazil, will be one of the longest after this epic leg, before the fleet sets sail north again.<\/p>

From there, the regatta will head back to Europe, with a transatlantic leg to Aarhus in Denmark, followed by a Fly-By in Kiel, before heading to The Hague.<\/p>

And, finally, the last offshore leg to the Grand Finale at Genova<\/strong>, which will also mark a historic moment, with the first arrival in the Mediterranean.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

From June 24 to July 2, 2023, the Ligurian capital will host\u00a0The Grand Finale<\/em><\/strong>, the finish of\u00a0The Ocean Race<\/em><\/strong>, the fully crewed round-the-world race.<\/p>

Genoa, La Superba<\/strong>, with its historic city center among its international port, is proud to host The Grand Finale of The Ocean Race 2022-23.<\/em>\u00a0It shares the themes of sport, inclusion, respect for the environment and sustainability.<\/p>
